Summary : This centurial stone was found in 1970 in Turret 33B (Coe Sike). The stone was reused with one end exposed in the second course above ground of the walling that was inserted in the recess of the north wall. The stone was reused in the wall that replaced the demolished turret when Hadrian's Wall was reoccupied early in the third century AD. The stone is of buff coloured sandstone and measures 0.51m x 0.34m x 0.22m. The stone is inscribed with the following:LEG VIVICTRIXPIA FID The inscription on the stone relates to work done by the 6th Legion.
More information : A legionary building inscription attesting work done by the 6th legion was found in process of consolidation of Turret 33b (Coesike) (NY 87 SW 6) by DoE. (1)

This centurial stone was found in 1970 in Turret 33B (Coe Sike). The stone was reused with one end exposed in the second course above ground of the walling that was inserted in the recess of the north wall. The stone was reused in the wall that replaced the demolished turret when Hadrian's Wall was reoccupied early in the third century AD. The inscription on the stone relates to work done by the 6th Legion. (3)
