Summary : Artificial mound - probably a barrow
More information : [SK 27689686] Walders Low [GT] (site of) [T.I.] (1) Barrow "Walder's Low"; the cairn now surmounting the mound was built by Mr. Macro Wilson. (2) 'Walders Low' is a large artificial mound of earth and stone surmounted by a stone obelisk (referred to as a cairn by Authority 2). Numerous mutilations have been caused by stone robbing but the remains (3.0 metres high) are still suggestive of a barrow. Mr.G.Shaw who has farmed the adjacent land for sixty years stated that the feature has remained unaltered in his memory. G.P's AO.61, 171, 6 & 7 show the SW and SE aspects respectively. A 25" survey has been made. (3) Survey of 5.7.61, unchanged. (4)
