Faxfleet Templars Preceptory

Hob Uid: 61233
Location :
East Riding of Yorkshire
Blacktoft
Grid Ref : SE8650024900
Summary : Traditional site of establishment of Knights Templars at Faxfleet. Building rubble has been noted here in the past. (see also SE82SE9).
More information : Mounds & Ditches traditionally associated with Knights Templars: Many remains of mounds and ditches or depressions over practically the whole area of this field and it appears to have been an inhabited site. It has yielded many pieces of building stone and my information is that a stone "roadway" was removed by a former occupant of Faxfleet Hall. No distinguishable pattern, however, can be made out from ground level. Traditionally it is the reputed site of the establishment of Knights Templars which existed at Faxfleet in the 12th century. [Area SE 865 249] (1)

Nothing visible on R A F APs 1948 (2)
