More information : Site of a C2nd Roman villa (corridor type) at SK 71934248 (see plan and AP). the material in its foundations was used to construct farm roads in 1886, but a ground plan drawn at the time is in the possession of TC Blagg. (No evidence is available for the date of the villa). (1-2) Set in permanent pasture at SK 71954249 is the robbed site of the villa. It sits at the top of a slight rise above the river plain facing almost due south. The two wing rooms, the corridor and at least three of the rear rooms are clearly visible giving nearly the whole outline, surveyed at 1/2500. (3) A decorated bronze buckle plate of unknown date, was found near the site of the Roman Villa at about SK 719425. (4) Roman Villa at Car Colston. (5)
