Summary : A former parish church dating architecturally back to the early 12th century with evidence of later alterations in the late 13th and early 14th centuries, and a period of restoration in 1876-7. The church plan consists of a west tower and spire, a nave with north and south aisles, and a rectangular chancel. It is built in limestone ashlar and blue lias with a plain tiled roof. The tower and spire are built in coursed rubble with ashlar quoins and lean slightly to the west and dates to the early 14th century, while the exterior nave walls and the chancel belong to the 1876-7 restoration. The interior fittings are 19th and 20th century in date.

St. James, Dry Doddington, has a Transitional south doorway and
early decorated tower. Restored in 1876.
