Metal post with attached metal plate, Smith Patterson iron shield design, erected by Morpeth to River Beamish turnpike trust, 19th century. Inscription reads: // CORNHILL / {arrow to left} 20 / MORPETH / 24 {arrow to right} //W / 7 / (on plate attached to post) //. Grade II listed by Historic England.
