Description:Milestone, 20m N of railway bridge; opposite what was the Clock Inn, A342, W side, on grass at north end of lay-by, between path and end of brick garden wall. Metal plate attached to stone post, Burt iron casting design, erected by Devizes (consolidated) turnpike trust, 19th century. Inscription reads: // DEVIZES / 3 //(E)VE(RLY / 12) //SARUM / 20 //J. HAYWOOD JUN.R / PHOENIX FOUNDRY/ DERBY//. Grade II listed by Historic England. Milestone Society National ID: WI_DZAV03. Last record: 2008. (See www.milestonesociety.co.uk)
