More information : TL 71479090 - 'A': Excavations disclosed flint foundations of building just below plough, which had been extensively robbed. At each end of a wall running E-W spreads of small flints packed close suggest a courtyard. Roman tiles and pottery found. Excavated F Curtis for Norwich Mus.TL 71329095 - 'B': Roman bath-house excavated (1) (45 x 18 ft) (3), hypocaust pillars of hot-bath contained round and rectangular tiles. The two baths had apsidal ends. Chalk-cut well adjacent, 18 ft deep, 5 ft diameter containing many animal bones and sherds mainly 2nd - 3rd century AD (1). TL 71399095 - a Roman brooch from surface soil and Roman building material and pottery over wide area centred TL 715909, also two pits, one IA at the end of building 'A', the other ?IA at TL71229091. Md pottery also found in the area.(2). (1-3) Mr F Curtis (authy 1) died early this year; all his records (inc material, plans and field notes) are with his estate and, despite requests to the next of kin, Miss Green (Arch Keeper Norwich Castle Mus) has, so far, been unable to acquire them. Siting of courtyard building 'A' and bath-house 'B' is shown on museum record sheets as in authy 1. (4) Site 'A' is now under a new school building and 'B' falls in an area of rough ground freshly pegged out for a new housing scheme. (5)
