More information : SU 0181 1006. Two contiguous Bronze Age round barrows are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs, and have been mapped by EH's Knowlton Circles Project. Each barrow is defined by two circular ditches. The larger, at SU 0182 1007, has an inner ditch 13.1m in diameter and an outer ditch 19.2m in diameter. The smaller, at SU 0181 1006, has an inner ditch 12.6m in diameter and an outher ditch 20.3m in diameter. The sides of each outer ditches are incomplete nearest the neighbouring barrow, possibly representing a single ditch aroung bothbarrows. The barrows are associated with the extensive barrow cemetery known as the Knowlton Circles Barrow Group. (1-2) |
