Summary : A cross base built into a slight hedge bank on the west side of Green Lane. It is one of four crosses which functioned as waymarkers on the medieval route from Wigan north to Chorley. The base is cut from a single block of local gritstone.

than "an ancient cross" (2)

The remains of this cross consist only of a stone base which
measures 0.9m by 0.7m at the foot and 0.8m by 0.7m at the top being
0.4m deep. The socket hole is 0.3m square and 0.2m deep.
Base stands in a modern hedge bank at corner of a wood. (3)
