Description:Former site of a house, Boundary Road, Bidston.
The Vyner estate plan of 1656 does not show buildings in this area. (1)
Burdett's map of 1777 does not show buildings in this area on Bidston Heath. (2)
Greenwood's map of 1819 shows an area of enclosures on the east side of the common and shows two buildings at the southern end of this, the western of which was probably intended for this site. (3)
The Tithe map of 1842 shows a similar arrangement, with two buildings on this site, recorded as No. 189, a house, buildings and garden, owned by Robert Vyner and occupied by John Langley. (4-5)
The buildings are not visible in an aerial photograph of 1946. (6)
Bidston Community Archaeology carried out excavations on the site between 2011 and 2022. Floors and walls of the buildings were found, along with a horse engine to the south of them. (7)
