Horsley (1a) and Bruce (1b) note that there was an aqueduct to convey water to Haltonchesters from a spring to the NW. Lingard in 1807 found to the W of the fort 2...a species of aqueduct of large stones in which was hollowed a conduit 12 inches broad and 8 deep which discharged the water from a wet piece of ground...through the wall" (1c). Area now intensively cultivated; no evidence found. (1)
