Grid Ref : TQ3204081850
Summary : Opened as Aldersgate Street on 23rd December 1865 as a cut-and-cover station on the Metropolitan Railway. The cutting was spanned by a glazed arch which has a span of 80-feet. In 1968 Aldersgate disappeared from the name altogether when it was renamed Barbican. The station is now also served by Thameslink trains.
