Summary : Second World War remains at The Trundle, noted during the 1995 RCHME survey of the hillfort (SU 81 SE 21) and causewayed enclosure (SU 81 SE 52) include a large number of fox holes and slit trenches cut into the rampart and counterscarp bank of the hillfort. Two VHF Direction Finding Stations were sited within the hillfort during the war. Each originally held four wooden masts, only one of which now survives. A concrete foundation located roughly midway between the two Stations supported a corrugated iron "nissen"-type structure. All these features fall within the scheduled area of the Trundle. Note however that the modern radio stations, including the surviving World War Two mast, are excluded from the scheduling, although the ground beneath them is included.
