More information : (Centred SE 575 378) Cawood, a village in a mature state of development, is based upon a Medieval pattern of settlement in which, the remains of Cawood Castle (SE 53 NE 2) and Castle Garth (SE 53 NE 20) were examined in 1989 during the RCHME Cawood Survey. (1) Following on from the RCHME fieldwork, a full report on the history and development of Cawood village, and its relationship to the archiepiscopal palace and other lesser manors in the immediate vicinity, was published. (2)
