Summary : Gatehouse approximately 10 metres to north-west of langley hall Farmhouse. Two-storey gatehouse built of sandstone and timber-frame in several phases from the late 13th or early 14th centuries, with alterations in the mid 15th century and between 1575 and 1625. The gatehouse originally provided access to the fortified manor-house of Langley Hall, demolished in the 19th century. In the last quarter of the 17th century the gatehouse became an agricultural building, with further alterations in the 20th century. |
