More information : The late 19th to mid-twentieth century Washington Colliery and associated brick works are visible as structures and earthworks on historical air photos. The remains comprise buildings, spoil heaps, a reservoir and a Hoffmann Kiln. The winding engine and winding gear are recorded in monument number 1029557. Most of the colliery landscape has now been remodelled as Albany Park and only the engine house and its winding gear survive. These monuments were mapped from aerial sources for the Historic England funded South East Northumberland Air Photo and LiDAR mapping project (Extension). (1-2)
