More information : [Marginal] A cell was founded at Sandtoft between 1147-86 by the Benedictine monks and was dependent on St. Mary's, York. It was for one monk only and was dissolved circa A.D. 1291. (1) No further information was obtained during field investigation. (2) SE 7408 area. Benedictine cell founded at Sandtoft by Roger de Mowbray (1147-86). In Mowbray's Grant Sandtoft is termed an island, formed by a division in the River Idle near its junction with the Don. (3)
