Summary : A Second World War Type 24 pillbox, located on Rough Shaw, a north west facing slope between Lodge Hill Wood and Berry Court Wood, near the north west corner of Lodge Hill Royal Naval Armaments Depot (Monument 1077634). The pillbox is one element within the supporting defences of a Stop Line (Monument 1542577) constructed in 1940 across the south western third of the Hoo Peninsula, from the north bank of the Medway to the south bank of the Thames at Higham Creek. This structure overlooks part of the anti tank ditch and has been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project, along with the rest of the Stop Line defences. |

The pillbox is one element within the supporting defences of a Stop Line (Monument 1542577) constructed in 1940 across the south western third of the Hoo Peninsula, from the north bank of the Medway to the south bank of the Thames at Higham Creek. This structure overlooks part of the anti tank ditch (Monument 1542687); the nearest pillboxes within the Stop Line defensive system are Monument 1543787 to the north east, and Monument 1418703 to the west. The pillbox and the rest of the Stop Line defences have been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.
