Summary : A Neolithic polished flint axe is reported to have been found at Scawby. No further details. In 1958, a perforated oval stone macehead was found at Scawby and is in Scunthorpe Museum.
More information : [Marginal] Polished flint axe found at Scawby. In private possession. (1) Mr. Dudley (authy 1) is dead. Scunthorpe Museum have no information. (2) Area SE 9605. A cylindrically perforated oval macehead was found at Scawby in 1958. The precise provenance and circumstances of discovery have not been recorded. Epidiorite, petrological section no. 255. In Scunthorpe Museum, acc. code SW AA. (The flint axe recorded by auth. 1 above is not mentioned in auth. 3). (3-5)
