Summary : Site of chapel and Secular College at Tickhill Castle. The chapel was founded in the reign of Henry II and dissolved in 1546. The secular college was founded circa 1173 and dissolved in 1206.

Eleanor, queen of Henry II, founded the chapel of St.
Nicholas within the walls of Tickhill Castle. The site of the
chapel is unknown but "... a door case which may have belonged
to it has been removed and set up inside the gatehouse and
outside is an old oak door of the style of James I ..." which
bears an inscription "The foundation of the chapel was dissolved
1st Edward VI." (2)

Secular College founded in Tickhill Castle c. 1173 (?) and
dissolved c. 1206. (3)

No confirmation of the published siting could be obtained. The
area is now covered by lawns of a private garden. The oak door
mentioned by Authy. 2 is inserted in the curtain wall at SK 5934
9290 (See SK 59 SE 23). (4)
