More information : The following features were mapped from poor quality air photographs:-
Possible field boundaries of unknown date, seen as a cropmarks. Morphological description: perpendicular linear features, each defined by 1 ditch with a maximum length of 110m. These features may form parts of two conjoined rectilinear enclosures or fields Centred at:-SU 1017 9344 (Morph No. TG.94.3.1)
Abutting the northern edge of one of these field boundaries, at SU 1024 9341, are four negative area features, possibly pits. Three are medium sized (4-15m), round features, in a linear pattern, and the fourth is large (30m) and oblong in shape. (Morph No. TG.94.3.2-3)
The function of these four negative features is unknown, but they may relate to the Angle Saxon town of Cricklade (Record No. SU19SW 2) .
