More information : A small quarry of possible post medieval date is visible as an earthwork on historic air photos at NY1394 3462. Measuring less than 0.1 hectares is lies adjacent to the A595 road, which here follows the course of the Egremont to Carlisle Roman Road (see UID 1325580). The quarry is depicted and labelled as “Old Quarry†on the Ordnance Survey map of 1895. This quarry appears as a cropmark on recent air photos. (1-3)
