Some of the finds are present in Grosvener Museum, Cheshire. The kiln is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
More information : [SJ 5065 6922] Mediaeval potter's kiln found by
Mr. G.B. Leach in his garden at Smithy House, Ashton in October
1933.
The kiln contained thousands of pottery fragments from which
some thirty vessels, chiefly jugs and pitchers, have been
reconstructed - representing a series from 13th-15th c.
Little more than the foundations of the furnace remain. [See
AO/139/4 & 5]. (1)

Mrs. Keen, the occupier, pointed out a wooden stake in the garden
marking the site of the kiln at SJ 50666922. It is on a small
turf-covered slope and there are no surface remains. (4)

No change since report of 26.6.64. (5)

The kiln has been virtually obliterated above ground level by
persons and at a time unknown. However before acceding to
proposals for descheduling the site, the Ancient Monuments Board
recommended archaeological investigation should take place to
determine the state of preservation of any below ground remains.
