Summary : Medieval ringwork surviving as an earthwork. The ringwork is 47 metres in diameter, comprising an earthen bank 9 to 10 metres in width, and averaging 2 metres in height externally. There is no trace of a ditch. The bank rises above the interior, 1.3 metres on the south side to 2 metres on the north side, due to silting up on the lower southern side. The original entrance is on the north side. Scheduled. |

Motte and bailey; predecessor of Cheney Longville castle. (2)
Ring-work castle (3), traditionally a Civil War earthwork raised against Cheney Longville castle (4). It consists of a small circular area enclosed by a bank which rises 6 ft above the interior and drops 8 ft to outside ground level. There are two opposite openings on the north and south (5). (3-5)
A mediaeval ringwork 47.0m in diameter overall, comprising an earthen bank 9.0 to 10.0m in width, and averaging 2.0m in height externally. There is no trace of a ditch. The bank rises above the interior, 1.3m on the S side to 2.0m on the N side, due to silting up on the lower southern side. The original entrance is in the N side and there is a modern break opposite, in the S side. No bailey can now be recognised. Published 1:2500 survey revised. (6)
