Summary : The site of a former underground station. The original Shepherd's Bush station was located just south of the current station which bears the same name. It opened on 13 June 1864 as one of only two intermediate stations on the Great Western Railways Hammersmith and City line from Green Lane Junction (the site of Westbourne Park) to Hammersmith. From July 1867 the station was also served by Metropolitan Line trains. As part of electrification and improvements to the line, the original station was replaced with two new ones - Shepherd's Bush to the north (TQ 28 SW 1917) and Goldhawk Road to the south. The station closed on March 31st 1914 and the two new stations opened the following day. |
