More information : An extensive Iron Age and/or Roman landscape is visible as cropmarks on aerial reconnaissance photographs, centred at TF 1594 0641. Two rectilinear enclosures are located at TF 1599 0630 and TF 1585 0636, the former being triple-ditched, with a broader outer ditch and an entrance to the west. Cropmark disturbances in the centre of the enclosure may suggest internal activity. A sinuous trackway extends north from this enclosure, possibly adjoining another trackway. A probable square barrow is located at TF 1576 0625. The landscape is bisected by a possible water channel, adjoining Car Dyke (UID 1034661) at TF 1601 0666, which is also visible. Rectilinear pits are probably peat cutting of uncertain date. (1-2) |
