Summary : Parish church. 11th-15th century, and 17th and 18th centuries. Chancel rebuilt 1848, restoration by Butterfield 1862. Ironstone and limestone coursed rubble with limestone and ironstone dressings. Plan of West tower, aisled nave, North porch, chancel and vestry. Probable Late Saxon minster. |

The lower part of the tower is Saxo-Norman, the upper part, 14th or 15th century. The fabric has much Early English work and some apparently Norman traces. (2-3)

Five cofin lids found during restoration work were said to have been decorated with `Greek' crosses. These may have been similar to cross types of 11th century date. (5) |
