Size and plan (c.60 ft. square with rounded corners) accords with the dimensions of a Roman signal station, but there are no surface indications (2). A signal station would probably have been needed at this point to provide an adequate link with that on Barcombe, and maintain communications along the line of the Stanegate (3). Nothing is visible on the RAF A.Ps. (1-3)
There are no visible surface indications of this feature. The site, however, is well suited for a signal tower. (4)
