Summary : The approximate site of an early 20th century boundary stone, which is marked on a Ministry of Works plan of Stonehenge dated 1920 (MP/STO0035). The boundary stone is labelled 'Air Ministry Number 12' and was one of at least 12 that defined the extent of Stonehenge Aerodrome (Monument Number 1362696) on formation of the Air Ministry at the end of the First World War. More information : The approximate site of an early 20th century boundary stone, which is marked at SU 1203 4192 on a Ministry of Works plan of Stonehenge dated 1920 (MP/STO0035). The boundary stone is labelled ‘Air Ministry Number 12’ and was one of at least 12 that defined the extent of Stonehenge Aerodrome (Monument Number 1362696) on formation of the Air Ministry at the end of the First World War. The location of the boundary stone was identified during background research as part of English Heritage’s Stonehenge WHS Landscape project but the stone has been removed. (1) |
