Summary : Alternative site of Gilbertine Priory. Not Proven.
More information : [Approximately SE 99840025] Priory [G.T] (Site of) (1) [SE 99820023 (4)] The Gilbertine priory of St Mary of Tunstall in Redbourne was founded as a double house before 1164, and, before 1189 was united to the Gilbertine priory of Bullington. (2-4) There are no surface remains at the published site which is arable, and none of the adjacent buildings exhibit monastic material. (5) No conclusive evidence to support this site but see documentary references to the priory (SE 90 SE 28) and alternative site (TF 09 NW 11). (6) There was no evidence of the possible Gilbertine Priory on available air photographs at the grid references cited. (7)
