Summary : Canons Park, initially named Canons Park (Edgware), opened on 10th December 1932 to the designs of Charles Clark. In contrast to the domestic style for the other stations on the Stanmore branch of 1932, Clark introduced modernistic forms and detailing at Cannons Park. The ticket hall was located within the bridge abutment between the canopied entrances. Situated to either side of the two station entrances were two shops with residental accommodation above. In 1939 Canons Park became part of the Bakerloo line when the London Passenger Transport Board opened a new section of twin tube tunnels between Baker Street and Finchley Road. On 1st May 1979 Canons Park became an intermediate station on the new Jubilee line when the Jubilee took over the Baker Street to Stanmore branch as part of its new line to Charing Cross. |
