In March 2002, English Heritage carried out a detailed field investigation and survey of the setting of Norham Castle (NT 94 NW 1) to improve understanding of both the castle itself and various earthworks in its vicinity (Event Record 1363798).

An Iron Age promontory fort, centred at NT 9077 4736, is visible as an earthwork on air photographs. There are only partial remains comprising two sections of linear bank. These are approximately 8m wide and 123m long (in total). The banks are aligned south-west/north-east. (2) |
