This pillbox, situated behind the bowling green club house, is a semi sunken structure of the `Lozenge' type, which was one of the standard forms of east coast pillbox. This particular example had two long loops to the front, with both the rear loops knocked into one. The loops in the north end and the blast wall have been widened to allow a wider field of fire. The building is constructed of reinforced concrete, and when it was visited by the Fortress Studies Group in 1992 it was in good condition and not considered to be at risk. (1)
