More information : TA 2137 4644. Square pillbox. (for a full description see TA 15 SE 45) This small pillbox was positioned to the south of Hornsea town. It was a brick built structure with a concrete roof, and was plotted from aerial photographs dated 1945 by the Fortress Studies Group. The Fortress Studies Group also visited the site during the Holderness Survey in 1992, they found that no trace of the site remained. (1-1a)
The monument is also visible as an upstanding structure on air photographs examined as part of the Rapid Coastal Assessment Survey of the Yorkshire and Humber Estuary. Due to coastal erosion the monument no longer survives in situ. (2)
