More information : (TA 2138 4591) Rifle range. This rifle range provided a training facility for the nearby Rolston Camp training camp. It takes the form of a number of firing points and a firing butt, all of earthwork construction. The site was plotted from aerial photographs dated 1945 by the Fortress Studies Group. It was later visited by the FSG as part of the Holderness Survey, they found the site to be in good condition, although it was at risk from coastal erosion. (1-1a)
The monument is also visible as earthworks and structures on air photographs examined as part of the Rapid Coastal Assessment Survey of the Yorkshire and Humber Estuary. Due to coastal erosion part of the monument no longer survives in situ. (2)
