Summary : World War II lozenge shaped, reinforced concrete pillbox, Hornsea. Constructed between 1940 and 1941.

This lozenge pillbox was one of a series of pillboxes positioned
around Hornsea facing towards the town. These were intended to hold any possible invasion in the town until help could arrive. It is
positioned on the north west edge of Hornsea, and is built from
reinforced concrete. The site was visited by the Fortress Studies
Group in 1992 during the Holderness Survey, they found the site to be in good condition and felt that it was at little risk. (1)

The monument is also visible as an upstanding structure on air photographs examined as part of the Rapid Coastal Assessment Survey of the Yorkshire and Humber Estuary. (2)

Lozenge shaped concrete pillbox north of Northgate. One of a series of pillboxes positioned around Hornsea facing towards the town. These were intended to hold any possible invasion in the town until help could arrive. It is positioned on the northwest edge of Hornsea. Not considered at risk in 1992. (4)
