Summary : The priory was founded as a house of Augustinian canons towards the end of the 12th or at the beginning of the 13th century by Sir Ralph Mainwaring . The monument includes the remains of the priory church dating from the early 13th to the 15th century but incorporating parts of an earlier church dated to the 11th century, together with the remains of the conventual buildings to the north of the church and of associated buildings and water management features, lying to the north and east of these within the known area of the monastic precinct.

Weybourne Priory was founded for Augustinian Canons between 1199 and
1216. Dissolved 1314. (2)

Founded by Sir Ralph Meyngaryn, the Priory became subordinate to the
Priory of Westacre the present remains of the Priory include part of
the N Wall of the choir, and of the E and S walls of the presbytery; a high fragment of the E wall of the N transept still stands with the entire E wall of the cloister; the entry to the N (refectory) range remains entire with its vaults, also parts of the refectory wall on its claustral side and its N wall.
Fragments of the W range are incorporated with the house (presumably Priory Farm). (3,4)

Excavations have revealed foundations of other buildings surrounding
the cloisters.
