Summary : Landscape park and gardens to Broughton Castle. The park may have been laid out during the 1760s by Sanderson Miller. Relandscaping, proposed by John Davenport in 1781, was never implemented. The walled garden on the southern side of the castle was created in the 1880s. Further gardens were laid out during the late 19th century and early 20th century. Additional gardens were designed in 1970 by Lanning Roper. This area was surveyed from aerial photographs as part of the SE Warwickshire and Cotswolds HLS NMP project. Vertical aerial photographs of 1947 show formal gardens to the west of the castle, within the moated area. The most recently available vertical aerial photographs of 2009 show that these gardens have been removed. |

Landscape park and gardens at Broughton Castle. The park is 18th century may be by Sanderson Miller, and landscaped by John Davenport, 1781. The gardens are late 19th century and partly designed by G Jekyll, replanted in 1968. (2)
