More information : Possible Iron Age or Roman period field boundaries and a trackway are visible as cropmarks on air photos around NY4844 4089. The trackway runs near perpendicular to the eastern side of the Brougham to Carlisle Roman road (UID1031541) and is similar to other trackways on the western side of this road (see UIDs 1573629 and 11364). The field boundaries are oriented near perpendicular to the trackway but one appears to cut across the route of the trackway. (1-2)
