Summary : World War II weapons pit located against the inner edge of the seawall, West Thorney, Thorney Island. The weapons pit was constructed in 1940-41, is brick-lined, has a concrete floor and a short brick entry way. It has an internal diameter of 7 feet 6 inches, and a depth of about 5 feet. A field visit in 1998 found it extant.
More information : Brick-lined weapons pit, with a short brick entry way. Concrete floor. It is about 5ft deep and is approx. 7ft 6ins in internal diameter. It is hard up against the inner edge of the seawall and is very well tactically sited.Thorney Island. (1)
