North of Thrift Wood. Date for Mill: 1881. Mound is 72' across, 8'-9' above field level - slight indication of a ditch on one side only. No trace of mill. A tower mill here, but before that there must have been a post-mill (the mound is the evidence).

<2> Bedfordshire Historical Record Society, Survey of Ancient Buildings, Vol. 1, 1931 (Serial). SBD11624.

Includes photograph of mill.

<3> Bedfordshire & Luton Archives and Records Service Documents, Various (Unpublished document). SBD10551.

Various documents refer to a windmill:-
'windmill furlong' (L5/1182, 1540)
'also a windmill' (L5/374/1596)
'The Windmill and ½ acre' (L5/372-373, 1658)
Newberry Manor map shows Windmill Hill (X1/89, 1757)

<4> Helen Porter, Site Visit notes (Notes from site visit). SBD12346.

No mound left at all, though as the site is right on the top of a hill and had been ploughed, it is difficult to say definitely. But no noticeable mound remains.
