1870-71, by JR Veall, restored after fire 1964. Red sandstone, some Bath stone dressings, tile roof. Early English style. Comprises nave, with W porch & vestry added 1896, N aisle completed 1878, S aisle 1880.

Description

1870-71, by JR Veall, restored after fire 1964. Red sandstone, some Bath stone dressings, tile roof. Early English style. Comprises nave, with W porch & vestry added 1896, N aisle completed 1878, S aisle 1880. On N side is gabled vestry & chapel, both added in 1920s. W porch 2 storeys & 2 bays, has moulded pointed N doorway. Aisles 5 bays, separated by buttresses with plate tracery. Windows are each of 2 lancet lights. Clerestory windows are paired lancets. Each of 3 sides of apse has window of single multi foiled light. interior: nave arcade of 5 bays with pointed sandstone arches which have edge mouldings. Round columns have foliated capitals. Clerestory windows each have central inner banded shaft with foliated capital. The ribbed wagon roof replaces orig destroyed 1964. Windows of apse are flanked by narrow shafts. font & pulpit are sandstone, latter with elaborate Gothic arcading. <1>
