Full description

1. A second phase of evaluation along the proposed access routes for the A14 road improvement scheme was carried out in 2005. Trial trenching revealed 12 features at this location, none containing any artefacts. The nature of the fills and the orientation of the ditches suggests that are prehistoric or Roman in date, probably dating to the late Iron Age or early Roman period.

2. Subsequent archaeological excavation at this site revealed limited evidence of a series of ditches on a north-south and east-west alignments. Dating evidence comprised small quantities of late Iron Age and early Roman pottery.
