Full description
1. Possible Iron Age to Roman settlement features, comprising two sub-square enclosures, are visible as faint cropmarks on aerial photographs to the south east of Hamerton, centred at TL 14372 77989. The two enclosures are on a south west-north east alignment. It is possible that they are the remains of a larger, linear, settlement and that other features which would have connected them are either not visible, or do not survive. The cropmarks are visible over an area measuring approximately 300 m by 45 m. The enclosures may be related to an area of linear settlement located nearby to the west (see NRHE 1589628). These features were recorded from EH Reconnaissance aerial photographs of 2011.
