Summary

A small section was made across the line of the Roman road in advance of road construction.The agger (roman road embankment) is visible along a hedgeline from Stretton Church to this site. Excavation revealed that heavy stone foundations and some surface has survived but there were no ditches. King Street Roman road runs between Wilderspool and Middlewich and then onto Chesterton in Staffordshire.
