Full description

The "remains of a chapel" is marked at Roscarrock on OS maps. Maclean records that a licence was granted at "Reskerret" in 1429 and that the chapel is mentioned in 1725 (b5). The chapel had been largely demolished by Gilbert's day (b2). Trevan appears to refer to two chapels, one near to the house "entirely demolished" and one in the house, the interior of which was used as a store (b3). The listing information records that the supposed chapel in the north wing of Roscarrock has two small single light windows (b7). A field visit by the OS revealed that the remains of the chapel are apparently incorporated in the two-storied building at SW 9861 8038. The two single light windows are not dateable but are probably contemporary with the house, ie C16 (h1).
