Full description

The settlement of Chykembro consists of a single courtyard house (30756.1) noted by Hirst (b3) and mentioned by Hencken (b1). A roughly circular enclosure (30756.2) with attached hut (30756.3), and up to four possible huts (30756.4 - 30756.7) of which one may be the remains of a barrow (30756.5). There are the fragmented remains of an associated field system (30756.8) traceable in the north and south of the settlement. The site was surveyed at 1:2500 by the OS in 1961 (h1) and revisited by them in 1975 (h2). Weatherhill surveyed the settlement in 1975 (h3, b6). Various elements of the settlement are visible on air photographs (p1-p3) and were plotted for the NMP in 1997.
