Full description
The present house of Tremadart is a late C19 farmhouse. There is no re-used material from the manor in the farmhouse and outbuildings (h1). It is believed that the manor house was fortified, for William of Worcester's itinerary (compiled in Edward IV's reign) mentions a dilapidated castle called Boleit (b5) near St John Coleshill's mansion of Tremoderet. Tremadart became the seat of Coleshill family whose heirs sold it in 1711 (b3, b5). The OS suggest that the site of the castle or fortified house may have been at 'Old Court' (10176).
