The settlement of Boconnoc is first recorded in 1086 in the Domesday Book (b1, b2). The settlement had 2 villagers and 6 smallholders. There was enough land for 8 ploughs, 40 acres of pasture and 100 acres of woodland (b2). The name is Cornish and contains the element bod 'dwelling' and a personal name (b3). Boconnoc is still occupied.
